The Scary Truth About AB 2747

AB 2747 would allow a doctor or a nurse to guess that a patient has "less than one year to live," and then ask the patient if they would like a pain-free death known as "palliative sedation." This will result in depressed patients dying from dehydration within five days. They will literally shrivel to death, worse treatment than doomed animals at the pound.

AB 2747 is the assisted suicide bill returning back to you in another form. This time, instead of administering a lethal injection, AB 2747 would accomplish the same thing - quick death - through redefining and misusing the rare medical treatment known as "palliative sedation." Palliative sedation should only be used when death is imminent – within hours or days - and pain medication is not enough. Even if sleep-inducing drugs were used, nutrition and hydration should not be removed. Removing food and water will cause an unnatural, as opposed to natural, death.

Yet AB 2747 would change the law to allow a physician or nurse to pressure shocked and depressed patients into a quick death. By redefining palliative sedation into a vehicle for assisted suicide, AB 2747 would transform doctors and nurses into killers, not healers or comforters. Just as the assisted-suicide bills of the last three years have been rejected, so should the California Legislature reject AB 2747. Assisted suicide lessens the value of human life.

People who are ill need support, spiritual care, and counseling if they are depressed and want to end their lives prematurely. Assisted suicide will ensure the death of innocent Californians at the hands of an increasingly unscrupulous insurance industry which regards dead people as cheaper to take care of. Yes, I support Universal Health Care because of the fact that we give free Medical to all 197,000 inmates currently in our Prison System. If they get free Medical, then I will fight to make sure that citizens that work within the law and work 40 plus hours a week have the same Medical privileges for themselves and their families.

I will pay for my medical plan for all of California in several ways: 1. Medical Cal, Medicare, and the many free clinics that most of the public doesn't even know exists. 2. There are Federal Community Base Clinics that are funded by the Federal Government and very little information is out there. These and all visits to the Federal Community Base Clinics are free. It is the only thing that President Bush has done that will help working families without Health Care. So friends we do not have to raise taxes on any Californians. These programs are already open and working and I intend to bring attention to their existence.

I am a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment rights of our citizens to "Keep and Bear Arms". However, remember I am currently working as a Parole Agent on the streets of Sacramento and have faced criminals with Tech-9's and AK-47's...We must keep assault weapons out of the hands of these criminals. They have more firepower than law enforcement, i.e. drug dealers, gang members and illegals.

Yes, I "support" the "Immediate Deportation" of any illegal immigrants. I work in Law Enforcement as a former Correctional Officer for the State of California for about nine years and currently as a Parole Agent for about nine years for almost a total of 20 years. I have arrested many Illegal Parolee's only to see that our USINS release them back to the State of California. Recently, a Parolee that I arrested for about 10 DUI's was released from USINS and is now still living in the US...Our Federal Government has not fixed the problem. So California bears the cost and the Federal Government does not give any money back to the Prison System nor to the State of California...We are going broke carrying the Federal Government's debt to California of Illegal's in our country.

With only a few veterans left from the world wars and over 20,000 Americans wounded in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, there are over 200,000 homeless veterans in this country. Is this how we as a nation thank those citizens who volunteered to fight for our values and rights?

Although there are a few foundations claiming to construct amenities to house veteran families and provide hospitals to help veterans, this is not enough. There are still over 100,000 people being unhelped! After enduring all the heartache and pain throughout their duties in the war to protect this country, veterans need our help. They need our support to get back into real American life. They need help to have the funds to raise their families. A war changes a person, and Americans need to understand this. What would we do without veterans? In the future, if we do not look after our own, we may not have anyone to represent and fight for our country. We cannot forget this. It is common knowledge that education spurs economic growth. Education seems to be popping up more and more across the world. Countries like East Asia, Russia and India have shown a positive correlation between their high investments in education and their high rates of economic growth. Recently, the states has come into some scrutiny that there is not enough funding to public educational institutions.

Unlike the nationally regulated and financed education systems of other industrialized societies, American education is primarily the concern of the states and individual school districts. At the time of Confederation, the founding fathers proposed that Americans give high priority to a “crusade against ignorance.” However, more and more we see the drop out rates of students rising. The country has the resources but is not focusing its energy on what is right in front of it. Instead of fighting outsiders, the country should be training its insiders who would then have the brain power and wit to compete with countries like India and China.
